General information
TUSUR is one of the leading universities of the Russian Federation, training highly qualified specialists in a wide range of engineering specialities. Having seven full-time Faculties, a Faculty of Part-Time Evening Studies and a Correspondence Faculty, the University provides training of approximately 15,000 students in 36 specialities including different branches of economics and information technologies, electronics and computer engineering, programming, automation and control systems, etc.
At present, there are 29 departments in the University. The University Faculty staff comprises 430 lecturers, many of whom are recognized for their achievements. Among them, there are more than 50 Professors, Doctors of Sciences and about 250 Associate Professors, Candidates of Sciences. There are also many famous and Honored Scientists: 29 Full Members and Corresponding Members of various Academies of Sciences, six Honored Scientists and Engineers of the Russian Federation.
Special teaching facilities include a wide variety of control-measuring equipment, technological equipment and computer classes. More than 2000 modern computers, placed in 43 computer classrooms and united into a corporate computer network with Internet access, are involved in the process of student training. All students irrespective of their Faculty and speciality, study the programming languages of high level and modern programming techniques from the very first year of their study. Computers become a reliable tool in students’ hands for their further study and work.
TUSUR has a wide network of regional representatives located all over Russia (more than 110 from Moscow to Vladivostok) and branch campuses covering the neighboring regions.
A broad network of representatives and branches enables the University to conduct full-time teaching not only in Tomsk, but also at places of students’ permanent residence. Distance learning is very actively developed at TUSUR.
